If you are enrolled in Medicare and begin working for an employer who enrolls you in their group health plan, the medical insurance through your current employer is typically your primary coverage. When you visit your doctor or hospital to obtain services, show your group health plan ID card as well as your Medicare card and state that you are currently employed. Not showing your employer's group health plan card will create claim problems because Medicare provides secondary coverage while you are employed.
