- must be financially interdependent;
- must not be legally married to someone else or be a member
of another domestic partnership

  1. The surviving family member of a deceased member cannot enroll a spouse, adult dependent relative, or domestic partner (or their children/grandchildren).
  2. Child must be 24 hours old before coverage begins.
  3. "Related to you" refers to a family relationship legally acknowledged in the State of California. These relationships include: parents and children; ancestors nnd descendents of every degree (this means grandparents and grandchildren, great-grandparents and great-grandchildren, etc.); brothers and sisters; half-brothers and half-sisters; uncles and aunts; and nieces and nephews.
  4. As proof of dependency for income tax purposes, income tax records must be submitted, upon request. It is your responsibility to meet tax verification requirements.
  5. Domestic partner must be eligible for UC-sponsored health coverage.
  6. If you are an active employee residing in New Mexico, your child is eligible for dental and vision coverage until age 25.
