[November 7, 2008]

Although the passage of Proposition 8 amends the California Constitution to ban same-sex marriage, the passage of Proposition 8 has no effect on UC-sponsored benefits. UC's policies regarding benefits have been identical for spouses and domestic partners, and UC's benefits and benefits policies will continue to apply to all same-sex relationships.

We will continue to follow the legal challenges to Proposition 8 and provide additional information as necessary.

For more information about UC benefits for domestic partners or spouses, please see the Benefits for Domestic Partners brochure and the At Your Service website or call the UC Customer Service Center at 1-800-888.8267.
