[January 28th, 2005]

In February 2005, new deadlines take effect for enrolling in the UC 457(b) Plan and for changing 457(b) Plan deferrals. Enrollments and changes must be completed before the end of the last business day of any given month to take effect with the next month's earnings.

For example, an enrollment or deferral change action completed before the end of the last business day in February (Monday, February 28) will be effective for pay periods ending in March.

These enrollment and deferral change deadlines comply with IRC regulations applicable to 457(b) plans.

Plan participants can cancel their 457 (b) Plan deferrals at any time, with cancellation made effective based on the next available payroll deadline.

Note: Enrollment and change deadlines for the UC Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan are not changing. Deadlines for the 403(b) Plan are not the same as those for the  457(b) Plan because IRC regulations for the 403(b) Plan are different.
