[May 4, 2000 ] The University of California Retirement System (UCRS) Advisory Board met on April 26, 2000. At the meeting there was a discussion about possible improvements to the UCRP retirement age factors. Based on the discussion, HR/Benefits staff will propose an action item at the UCRS Board meeting on June 23, 2000. Meanwhile, consultation with various members of the University community will continue. Any proposed changes to UCRP, including the retroactivity of such changes, are subject to legal review and must ultimately be approved by The UC Board of Regents. It is anticipated that the earliest this action item could be presented to The Regents would be at the September 2000 meeting. We cannot predict the outcome of these discussions, or the actions that may result from both the June UCRS Advisory Board meeting and broad consultation with University leadership. As information becomes available, we will update this website and issue press releases for distribution locally at UC campuses, laboratories, and medical centers. |
