Healed in Portugal
Maria A. Rosa, UCLA
I am Portugese and my husband, Alberto Machado da Rosa, died in a village (Monsarz) while on a research grant. I stayed there for four years involved with work and play with children. At that time (1974) the isolation was tremendous; the conditions arduous. The experience was a gift of deep healing to my soul. (The name of that village means mountain that heals.)
Then I moved to a place in the country near Evora, where I planted hundreds of trees and stayed involved with adult education, play therapy and C.G. Jung study groups. I continue – at 82 – with art work, gardening, translations, and I enjoy life in wondrous ways and means.
