The University and UPTE held their most recent negotiation session at UC Irvine on June 19, 2008. During this session, the University heard testimonials from UPTE employees and discussed administrative items, including the impending expiration of the current UC/UPTE RX and TX Agreements. The Parties did not agree to extend the provisions of the contract; therefore, beginning on July 1, the Parties will operate under the dynamic status quo. During this period of dynamic status quo, certain rights and privileges that were only valid with a current Agreement in place, lapse until the parties either reach agreement on a successor contract or, by mutual agreement, extend specific provisions of the contract.
The University and UPTE are scheduled to hold their next bargaining session in Merced on July 9th through 11th.
