UC employs approximately 12,900 Patient Care Technical employees who provide vital patient care support services at the five University medical centers, nine student health centers and numerous outpatient clinics throughout the UC system. UC values its patient care employees and is working hard to negotiate a fair agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), which represents these workers. UC is committed to bargaining in good faith to reach a comprehensive multi-year contract that fairly rewards patient care employees for their talent and skill, and is also financially sustainable over time.
