EXAMPLE: A pregnant pre-six lecturer, who has an appointment Spring term, gives birth prematurely on May 8th of the current year, and her request for child bearing leave with pay is approved. Although the Family Medical Leave Act permits up to 12 weeks of FMLA in this circumstance, the NSF would be paid for her full appointment in May and/or June, but would not receive pay beyond that period, because the appointment is self-terminating.
