Some units within UC are already exclusively represented (unionized), and some are not. Subsequent to the enactment of HEERA in 1979, PERB made a number of determinations about appropriate units at the University of California and conducted a number of representation elections. Unionized units within the UC are: Clerical (CUE), Service (AFSCME), Technical (UPTE-CWA 9119), Research Support Professional (UPTE-CWA 9119), Patient Care Technical (AFSCME), Residual Patient Care Professional (UPTE-CWA 9119), Nurses (CNA), Librarians (AFT), Non-Senate Instructional (AFT), Trades (various local trades unions), Printers/Binders (GCU), Santa Cruz Faculty (Santa Cruz Faculty Association-SCFA), Academic Student Employees (UAW), Police Officers (FUPOA), and LLNL Public Safety Officers (PSOA).
