Article 11 - Probationary Period

All employees appointed to career positions shall serve a probationary period totaling one hundred and thirty (130) on-the-job days of work without a break in service. Employees who are rehired following a break in service of more than six (6) months shall serve a new probationary period whether or not they previously completed a probationary period. Anytime prior to the completion of the probationary period, an employee may be released for any reason and without recourse to the Grievance or Arbitration procedures of this Agreement. The University will send to the Union a copy of the probationary employee's release. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, an employee's wage will be increased to the job rate beginning with the pay period following completion of the probationary period.
