The University met with UPTE for continued negotiations on a successor contract for Research Support Professional Employees and Technical Employees on August 6-8 in San Francisco.
During this session the Union once again continued its presentation of initial proposals. UC and UPTE have met a total of 19 times since March 2008, during which time the Union has presented its initial proposals on about 19 of 47 articles which have been opened for bargaining. This week, the Union presented its initial proposal on the vacation article. The University will present its proposals at the conclusion of the Union's presentation.
The next bargaining dates are scheduled for September 9-12. The University looks forward to continued good faith bargaining with the Union as the parties work together to make progress through the negotiation process in order to reach timely agreement on a new contract for RX and TX employees.
