On Friday, January 31, UC met with the American Federation of Teachers over a successor contract for the approximately 400 represented UC professional librarian employees. Bargaining continues to progress as the two parties work toward compromise. At last Friday's meeting, the University passed counter proposals on the original AFT proposals for Article 1 -- Recognition; Article 16 -- Management Rights; Article 24 -- Grievance Procedure; and, Article 30 -- Duration of Agreement, and the AFT passed counter proposals on the original University proposals for Article 2 -- Nondiscrimination; Article 13 -- University Benefits; Article 21 -- Holidays; and, Appendix F -- Panel of Arbitrators.
The next bargaining date is scheduled for Friday, February 22nd, in Oakland.
