UC's medical benefits include behavioral health benefits, which are provided by United Behavioral Health (UBH). Kaiser members continue to have access to Kaiser's integrated behavioral health services as well as to UBH services and network that apply to the other medical plans. Members of CIGNA Choice Fund and Anthem Blue Cross PLUS and PPO have out-of-network coverage as well.

The first three UBH in-network outpatient mental health visits are covered with no co-payment. To ensure full coverage of your services, contact UBH for authorizationof your visits. You can obtain authorization for in-network services online.

Your Responsibilities
To ensure claims for UBH service are fully covered, you should do the following:

For In-Network Services
Obtain “open” authorization for services by logging in to the UBH website or calling UBH (1-888-440-8225).  An open authorization is good for 12 months.

For Out-of-Network Services
(available only for Anthem Blue Cross PLUS and PPO and CIGNA members)

  • Members are encouraged to call in advance to ensure services will be covered.
  • Services must be medically necessary to be covered; UBH will request information from provider to validate medical necessity.
