Benefits Eligibility
Find out what benefits you and your dependants are eligible for based on your employment status.
Medical Plans
UC offers a wide selection of medical plans options. Find information about UC-sponsored medical plans, eligibility, your costs, enrolling and de-enrolling, plus links to medical plan carriers' websites.
Dental Plans
UC offers a choice of two dental plans to help you maintain good dental health, with UC paying the full cost of the coverage. Information about the dental insurance plans, eligibility, and enrolling in a dental plan is provided here.
Vision Plan
UC pays the full cost of a comprehensive vision care benefit provided by Vision Service Plan. Information about the plan, eligibility and enrollment is available.
Flexible Spending Accounts
The Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow you to pay eligible expenses on a pretax, salary reduction basis. Dependent Care FSA (DepCare FSA) is for eligible dependent care expenses and Health FSA is for eligible health care expenses not covered by your medical, dental, or vision plans. You must choose to enroll and CONEXIS administers the program on UC's behalf.
Legal Plan
For a small monthly premium you may enroll in ARAG Legal Plan, which provides a wide range of legal services. Information about the plan, your eligibility and enrollment is available.
Life Insurance
UC provides basic life insurance at no cost for most employees. Additional insurance for you and your family members is available for a monthly premium.
Disability Insurance
UC provides basic Short-Term Disability at no cost for most employees. You can choose to enroll in optional Supplemental Disability insurance for which you pay the premium. These benefits, in conjunction with state-mandated Workers' Compensation and Social Security disability benefits (along with UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) disability income for eligible employees) create a comprehensive safety net to protect employees from loss of wages due to disability (including pregnancy disability).
Accidental Death and Dismemberment
For a small monthly premium, you may enroll in AD&D coverage. Information about the plan is available.
Family Care
UC provides access to SelectPlus, a web-based resource for finding childcare, eldercare, and other family care providers.
Auto/Renter/Homeowner Insurance
UC employees have access to group rates for auto, renter and homeowners insurance through California Casualty. Employees deal directly with the insurer, and premiums may be paid through payroll deduction. For more information, contact California Casualty.
Business Travel Accident Insurance
When traveling on official University business you will be covered worldwide, 24 hours a day, for a wide variety of accidents and incidents while away from the workplace.
Long-term Care
UC does not offer a long-term care plan but helpful information is available from many sources.
