Your child will be deenrolled automatically from your medical, dental, and/or vision plan on the first day after the month following his/her 23rd birthday. Your child may continue group insurance coverage under COBRA (the Consolidated Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1985). COBRA allows eligible family members who lose coverage to continue group health coverage for up to 36 months. You or your child must pay the applicable monthly COBRA premium directly to the insurance company. Your child has 60 days from the date he or she turns age 23 to elect COBRA coverage.
If your child is disabled, he or she may be eligible to continue coverage under your plan. Talk to your local Benefits Office or insurance carrier before your child turns 23.
