UC currently contributes, on average, 86 percent of the cost of retiree medical premiums. In December 2010, the UC Regents voted to reduce contributions, over time, to a floor of 70 percent of the cost. In addition, the amount UC will contribute to your retiree health premiums depends on the date you were hired and the amount of UCRP service credit you have earned.
If you were hired before January 1, 1990
You receive 100 percent of the UC contribution if you retire at age 50 or older with a minimum of 10 years of service credit.
If you were hired after January 1, 1990
If you became a member of UCRP on or after January 1, 1990, or if you were rehired after that date following a break in service of more than 120 days, as a retiree you receive a percentage of UC's maximum contribution toward your medical and dental plan premiums based on your years of UCRP service credit.

Effective July 1, 2013
If on July 1, 2013, you will have less than five years of UCRP service credit and/or your age + UCRP service credit is less than 50, the UC contribution toward retiree medical and dental premiums will be as follows:
