A revised online sexual harassment prevention training program was recently rolled out to all UC supervisors, and a faculty version will launch in early October. A California law (AB 1825), which went into effect in 2005, requires supervisors to complete at least two hours of sexual harassment prevention training every two years. Because faculty assign and direct the work of others, including research and teaching assistants, they are also required to complete the training. Supervisors and faculty who completed the initial training in 2005 must now take the 2007 version of the online sexual harassment prevention course. The deadline for completing the 2007 course is December 31. Newer supervisors and faculty who took their initial training in 2006 or later will not have to complete the revised course this year, however, they will be required to complete a course two years from the year they last completed the sexual harassment prevention training. Like the 2005 version, the revised interactive course is designed to take at least two hours and includes scenarios aimed at helping supervisors and faculty recognize and prevent sexual harassment situations in the workplace. Supervisors should have received, and faculty soon will receive, an email with a personalized link directing them to the course. Those who have not completed the training will receive periodic reminders until they complete the training. For more information, visit the Sexual Harassment Training website. |
