Regents take action to reinstate contributions to UCRP

UC Talent Development and Succession Management Initiative

[pillar]President Robert Dynes and an initial group of 190 senior leaders from across UC met March 19-20 in Irvine at the UC Senior Leadership Forum. This was the first step in launching an institution-wide strategic program to address succession planning and the need to further develop within the University's own ranks the next generation of UC leaders. During two informational hearings in February on UC compensation conducted by the California State Senate Education and Senate Budget committees, President Dynes stressed the importance of maintaining competitive compensation for all UC employees, and vowed to fix the problems with the University's compensation and disclosure policies and practices. UC "family friendly" academic personnel policies
As part of its ongoing efforts to provide effective family accommodation policies for academic appointees, the University of California has revised key components in its academic personnel policies that cover work and family issues. For additional details, see the press release which includes a summary of the changes and a link to the revised policies, and the President's Issuance letters.

UCRS Advisory Board Election under Way through June 22
Active UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) members who are not members of the Academic Senate have until June 22 to vote in the election of two new UCRS Board members. There are 11 candidates running. Go to the election website for details about the Board and the election, the candidates’ statements, and a link to the At Your Service Online voting tool.

Retirement Readiness Workshops Now Online
For those who are unable to attend the retirement readiness workshops being conducted at each location as part of UC’s ongoing financial education program, FITSCo now offers prerecorded versions of several of their workshops online. More>>

HCRA and DepCare claim filing deadline
All Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) and/or Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DepCare) account claims for services received for the 2005 plan year (January 1, 2005 through March 15, 2006) must be received by SHPS by June 15, 2006. More>>

New Employee Orientation videos

The 2006 New Employee Orientation DVDs are now available at all Benefits Offices. These videos are used in the new employee orientations to give a brief overview of the Health and Welfare and Retirement benefits offered to UC employees.

Both videos are also available on the At Your Service website on the New Employees page. The online videos are intended for those employees who are unable to attend a new employee orientation within their first 30 days of UC employment.

APM sections and proposals under formal review: Proposed revised APM - 220-18-b(4) Criteria for advancement to Professor, Step VI, and to Professor above-scale salary levels.
