During two informational hearings in February on UC compensation conducted by the California State Senate Education and Senate Budget committees, President Dynes stressed the importance of maintaining competitive compensation for all UC employees, and vowed to fix the problems with the University’s compensation and disclosure policies and practices. President Dynes was joined by other UC representatives including UC Board of Regents Chairman Gerald Parsky and the co-chairs of the Regents’ Compensation Task Force for the hearings. On March 2, President Dynes conducted two "town hall" style meetings with Office of the President staff. The meetings were designed to give the President an opportunity to hear directly from employees about their thoughts and concerns about the compensation issues being reported in the press, and also to discuss the recent announcement of a management reorganization within the Office of the President. The President again reinforced his pledge to find solutions to the compensation problems and stressed how important input from many constituencies, including employees, will be to making organizational changes. A transcript of the meetings with President Dynes, as well as video clips of some of his answers to important questions, is available online.
