You may suspend your UC-sponsored retiree medical coverage if you are covered by a non-UC group or individual medical plan if you meet the provisions below. If you suspend UC medical coverage, you may reenroll during any future Open Enrollment or within 31-days of an involuntary loss of coverage.

In order to suspend, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be eligible for and enrolled in a UC medical plan.
  • Be eligible for and enrolled in TRICARE for Life or another non-UC individual or group medical plan.
  • Submit form UBEN 100 to suspend UC-sponsored medical coverage.

If you do not meet these requirements, you cannot suspend your UC-sponsored coverage. If you cancel your UC-sponsored coverage and have not met the requirements, you may not re-enroll in UC-sponsored coverage, except as permitted under the Involuntary Loss of Coverage provision.

When your UC-sponsored coverage is suspended, the UC Medicare Part B reimbursement, if any, and any UC/employer medical plan contributions will stop.

For more information, contact the UC Customer Service Center.

If you terminate your UC-sponsored retiree medical and/or dental coverage, you cannot re-enroll. Likewise, if you retire without medical and/or dental insurance, you cannot later enroll in it.
