[April 30, 1999]

We're pleased to announce another new fast and convenient option to enroll in or make changes to your account in UC's Tax-Deferred 403(b) and Defined Contribution plans—a dedicated Enrollment Line on bencom.fone, UC's toll-free interactive telephone service. Employees who are eligible to participate may call bencom.fone to take any of the following actions:

Tax-Deferred 403(b) Plan—

  • to start, stop, or change contributions
  • to change their investment fund(s) for future contributions

Defined Contribution Plan Pretax Account—

  • to change their investment fund for future contributions

Defined Contribution Plan After-Tax Account—

  • to start, stop, or change contributions
  • to change their investment fund(s) for future contributions

Similar to the Savings and Investment Plans online enrollment application here on UCbencom, participants calling the Enrollment Line on bencom.fone can review their current investment elections for each plan and then make contribution and/or investment changes, review changes before confirming and make new changes, or confirm and disconnect. All confirmed transactions will be effective when processed by local Payroll Offices. A written confirmation statement will be mailed to the participant's home address.

The Enrollment Line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the toll-free telephone number is 1-800-888-8267.

Note—at this time, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory employees must continue to use paper forms to enroll in or make changes to the plan(s). Also, participants who want to invest in Fidelity Investments mutual funds or the Calvert Social Investment Fund must have an account established before beginning or redirecting contributions to the mutual funds managed by these companies. Separate accounts must be established for 403(b) and DC Plan contributions.
