Candidates for the 2001 UCRS Advisory Board election had the opportunity to submit an additional statement that may include views on issues relevant to the election.

Candidate Anne C. Fink – Additional Statement

WHO WANTS TO HAVE A MILLION IN THEIR UCRS RETIREMENT?

Our contestant, ANNE C. FINK, is a Certified Financial Planner from Irvine.

"As UCI's Retirement Consultant, I have counseled thousands of UCRS members. During my 13 year tenure, I have researched retirement benefit options and opportunities that provide the best results for the individual and for the institution. I will be your VOICE and RESOURCE on the UCRS Advisory Board."

WHAT BENEFIT CHANGES WOULD IMPROVE YOUR UC RETIREMENT?

A. Portability of retirement

B. Enhanced covered salary

C. Equity for single members

D. Early eligibility

Your "final answer" for a qualified voice on the UCRS Board is:

ANNE C. FINK

Look on your BALLOT for the CODE and VOTE: 800/639-3779.

Candidate Jessea NR Greenman – Additional Statement

Reasons for running include:

  • Concern about the transition of responsibility for investment advice from the UC Treasurer to an outside firm. Consultants, not vested in our system, need oversight; their self-interest favors a short-term view rather our long-term payoffs.
  • Desire for better socially responsible investing options. Since 1987, when UC first offered a single fund, there has been no enhancement of socially responsible options.
  • Interest in making the Advisory Board better known and more accessible. It needs its own web pages. These should provide a list of its members, their terms and contact information, the schedule of meetings with UCOP, and a detailing of the election process, including downloadable forms.

I would work to fulfill these goals.
