01 Susan B. Angstadt
Staff Relations Specialist (Principal HR Spec), LLNL
21 years of UC service

My 20+ year UC career has included administrative, professional and managerial positions, with 13 years at a campus (Santa Cruz), 4 years at the Office of the President, and 5 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where I am currently employed. My various positions have been in Human Resources and/or Labor Relations. Each has required me to gain expertise and insight into Benefits and Retirement issues of concern to staff and academic employees at all levels of the University. The varied nature of my UC experience has also sensitized me to the retirement needs of all UC employees. I welcome the opportunity to bring my expertise, insight, and sensitivity to the UCRS Board for the benefit of all employees.

Your retirement must remain secure and competitive. As UC Irvine's Benefits and Financial Planning Consultant for over 13 years, I have counseled thousands of UCRS members helping them make the most prudent retirement planning decisions. My thorough knowledge of the UCRS Retirement Plans: UCRP, 403(b), DCP qualify me to serve as your representative. Our retirement plans must remain robust and progressive. If elected, I will press for improvements to your UC Retirement Plans.

  • Increased cost-of-living allowances

  • UCRP equity for single members

  • Enhanced UCRP covered salary

  • Phased-retirement

Your interests must be heard, ANNE PADEN FINK, for your future UC Retirement security.

03 Jessea NR Greenman
Student Affairs Officer II, UCB
12 years of UC service
B.A., Government, Cornell University (Phi Beta Kappa)
Masters of Public Administration (Management Option), Cal State Hayward

During twelve years at UC, I've served on and co-chaired the Policy Subcommittee of the Chancellor's Staff Advisory Committee; stategized successfully for the UC Domestic Partners' Benefits Task Force; co-chaired Berkeley's annual campus advising conference, and been active with UPTE. All deepened my management, planning, analytical and policy strengths. Serving on two nonprofit boards (and keeping them in the black!) honed further the fiscal skills I'd bring to the UCRS Advisory Board. Concern over recent changes in the oversight and administration of our retirement monies prompts me to "walk my talk." I offer you something a bit different: fiscal skills combined with policy strengths and a history of being fully accessible to those I represent.

04 Ralph E. Howard
Senior Human Resource Specialist, LLNL
11 years of UC service
B.A., Economics, Stanford University, Series 7, Financial Securities Advisor

I have spent over a decade administering the UC Retirement System. As a Sr. Benefits Counselor at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory I am responsible for providing benefit counseling on all aspects of UCRS. Previously, I served as Assistant Manager of UC Customer Service Center for the UCRS system-wide office and as Manager of Benefits and Employee Programs at UC Office of the President. My experience at the system-wide and campus levels provide a valuable perspective on the role of the Board in safeguarding benefits for current and retired employees throughout the UC system. As a trained economist and financial analyst I promise to ask the tough questions necessary to insure a continuation and enhancement of the services and benefits provided to UCRS members.

05 Danny C. Kim
Director, Finance and Administration, UC Riverside
8 years of UC service
B.S., UCLA
M.B.A., UCI
CA Teaching Credential

The positions I have held in the UC system required analyzing complex facts, figures and issues for decision making. This experience will enable me to better represent your interest on the UCRS Board. I want to assure that our money will be invested effectively for maximum growths with a rational sensibility to social issues. Like you, I will rely on UCRS income upon retirement and I want to ensure that UCRS establishes philosophies and practices and makes decisions based upon our best interest. I will work hard to be your advocate.

06 Darda J. Swanson
Personnel Analyst, UCB
13 years of UC service

I've worked 13 years as a benefits analyst and counselor in the UC Berkeley Benefits Office assisting employees on their retirement and savings plans. In addition to my in-depth knowledge of the University's complex benefits, as your representative I will bring to the Board an intimate understanding of the importance of benefits to staff members and their families. The University's retirement and savings plans form the foundation of our future security. Therefore, it's vital that they continue to be managed equitably as well as prudently, not only to recruit and retain the best faculty and staff, but to provide security for it's long term employee's. I will be dedicated in supporting this and your concerns on the UCRS Board.

07 Dianne H. Walker
Computing Resources Manager I, UCB
14 years of UC service
B.A., Slavic Languages, Lawrence University, Wisconsin
M.A., Applied Linguistics, UCLA
M.B.A., San Francisco State

My experience in the UC system is diverse. I was a graduate student at UCLA. At Berkeley, I have been the Acting Ombudsperson for Staff and a Lecturer in Peace and Conflict Studies. I am currently a Computing Resources Manager and HR and Budget Analyst. This breadth of UC experience has given me many opportunities to advocate effectively for the interests of staff and non-Academic Senate faculty. As your representative on the UCRS Advisory Board, I will continue to advocate with enthusiasm and competence for your interests: a secure and growing retirement fund and benefits as well as easily accessible and understandable information and education about both your options and how to plan for your future.
