In January, UC Care will send a Certificate of Creditable Coverage to each of its members. Because of the plan's transition from Prudential HealthCare to Aetna U.S. Healthcare (which was effective January 1, 2001), UC Care is required to send this notice. The certificate is required by the Federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

The certificates include a toll-free number that members can call with questions.

Employees and annuitants who are remaining in UC Care can disregard the notice.
