[January 29, 2001]

The Regents, at their January 18, 2001, meeting, approved an ad hoc cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that will restore the purchasing power of UC annuitants' monthly UCRP benefits to the 85% level. The increase will be included in the January 2001 benefit, paid at the end of January.

Note: Most annuitants—whose benefits began after July 1, 1985—will not receive this COLA because their benefits have retained at least 85% of their purchasing power.

The amount of the increase varies for different groups, depending on the date benefits began.
